TITLE: Why I Remain a Seventh-day Adventist

INTRODUCTION: Today I present a Testimony to those who have left Adventism. It is an attempt to give my reply to some who have ashed why I stay with Seventh-day Adventist Christianity
WHY I REMAIN A SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST (SDA)
WHY I REMAIN
1. I WANT TO BE A CHRISTIAN
- God Originated Everything
- God Formed Me
- I Am a Religious Being
- I am Accountable to God
- I Believe That The Religion of Jesus Christ is UNIQUE (ACTS 4:12)
2. I WANT TO BE AN EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN
- I Believe Scripture is the Authoritative Word of God
- I believe in my Personal God/Creator & Father/Christ as My Personal Mediator/The Holy Spirit is My Personal Comforter & Intercessor. I Live For & With Them (1 JOHN 1:2-3)
WHY I STAY
3. I WANT TO FOLLOW TRUTH
- We Have Been Led to a Fuller Understanding of Specific Present Truth
- Perpetuity of God's Law + 7th Day Sabb
- The Great Controversy Worldview
- The Imminent Second Coming of Christ
- Integration of Theology & Lifestyle
- Faith & Works (JOHN 14:6)
4. I WANT TO BE INVOLVED
- Globally the SDA Church is a Dynamic Movement- 2000 = per day - 800,000 yr
- We have a Sense of Mission
- We are going Somewhere
- SDA's are on the Move & I find it Great to be a Part of a Global Movement
- I am Proud of Adventism (MATTHEW 28:19)
WHY I REMAIN
5. I AM PROUD TO BELONG TO A CHURCH THAT WANTS TO SERVE THE WORLD ( & Locally)
- Work for Poor & Needy
- Work in Health Care & Education
- General Education
- ADRA IN 60 COUNTRIES (ISAIAH 58:6-8)
WHY I STAY
6. MY CHURCH INTERGRATES THEOLOGY WITH LIFESTYLE
- "Present Truth" is always RELEVANT
- It Speaks to Peoples Real Needs
- Part of the Genius of Adventism/Lifestyle
- We Believe in Wholistic /Total Religion (1 COR 10:31)
WHY I REMAIN SDA
7. THE SDA CHURCH IS INCREASINGLY CHRIST CENTRED
- We Do Not Believe in Legalistic Religion
- We Have No Faith in Righteousness by Works of our Own Making but only through faith in Christ Alone
- Seventh Day Adventism Has Matured
- I BELIEVE ELLEN WHITE HAS PLAYED AN ESSENTIALLY TRULY PROPHETC ROLE IN THIS AREA (EPHESIANS 2:8-10 REV 2:26)
WHY I REMAIN
8. I THANK GOD FOR A CHURCH THAT CAN CHANGE
- PRESENT TRUTH NEVER CHANGES BUT THE WAY IT IS APPLIED TO MAKE IT RELEVANT DOES CHANGE
- GLOBAL SATELLITE EVANGELISM THE GREATEST CHANGE REV 14:6
WHY I REMAIN
9. WE BELONG TO A CHURCH WITH AN INSPIRING PAST
- Seventh-day Adventism has a Fascinating History - A Miraculous History
- We Have a History of Grey Human Areas, with Sin, Weakness & even Error BUT THE GOLDEN THREAD OF ELLEN WHITE'S DYNAMIC VISIONS LEAD US INTO INCREASING LIGHT. GOD HAS & IS LEADING US (LS 196)
WHY I STAY WITH SDA
10. MY CHURCH HAS THE MESSAGE FOR THE FUTURE
- WE HAVE AN ETERNAL FUTURE
- BORN IN THE PAST
- CONFIRMED AT CALVARY
- RELEVANT FOR THE PRESENT
- A FUTURE WITH ETERNAL HOPE & SECURITY WITH OUR GOD HEB 10 : 35-36 11:13, 35
STAY - THERE ARE NO OPTIONS
MY CONLUSION: THERE ARE NO VIABLE ALTERNATIVES
"So don't throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It's still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God's plan so you'll be there for the promised completion.
'It won't be long now, he's on the way;
he'll show up most any minute.
But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust;
if he cuts & runs, I won't be very happy.'
But we're not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We'll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way."
