Mighty to Save

How powerful is God? He is Almighty, All-powerful, Omnipotent. He is the Creator; He made everything.
Is God more powerful than the things He has made? Yes.
Is God more powerful than Satan? Yes, He is!
Is God able to save us from our sins? Yes, He is!
He is Mighty To Save!
God is mighty to save! God is able to save us from our sins. Today, let's consider the greatness of God's power, how the gospel tells us of His power, and how we can have God's power in our lives every day.
God is All-powerful
In the beginning, God created everything. Think of the power it took to make everything. For example, how much power is needed to make the Earth move around the Sun? This Earth is only one planet; there are many more planets even in our solar system that move around our sun. But our solar system is only a tiny speck compared with the millioins of other stars and planets in the universe. God is so powerful, because He made all these things and keeps them moving.
Now tell me, is God more powerful than the things he has made? Yes, of course He is. We have the example in the days of King Hezekiah when God made the shadow on the sun dial go backwards 10 degrees (Isaiah 38:7,8). Think of the power needed to do this. God had to stop the Earth spinning on its axis, and make it spin backwards 10 degrees! Then, He had to start it spinning forwards again. And God did all this without everything crashing or flying off the Earth. God is much more powerful than the things He has made. (1)
God is greater than all. No one can take us out of His hand. Let's read what the Bible says in John 10:27-29. "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand." So God is greater than everything and no one can snatch us out of His hands.
Have you put yourself in God's hands for today? "Those who take Christ at His word, and surrender their souls to His keeping, their lives to His ordering, will find peace and quietude. Nothing of the world can make them sad when Jesus makes them glad by His presence." (White, E.G., The Desire of Ages, p. 331). If we put ourselves in God's hands, He will keep us.
We can also see in this text that Jesus is mighty to save. Let's read again John 10:28. Here, Jesus says "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand." We need to believe in Jesus Christ and trust in His mighty power to save us.
The Gospel tells us of God's power to save.
Let's read Romans 1:16, 17. "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."" So, the gospel of Christ is the power of God to save everyone who believes.
(1) The Bible gives us more examples of God's power over creation. For example, God is mightier than the mighty waves of the sea (Psalms 93:4). See also Christ's miracles.
