Welcome to the Twentieth Edition of the Online Magazine of the Thornleigh Seventh-day Adventist Church

Articles

Editorial

In This Issue

by Norman Tew

As usual we have five articles in this issue, and again the editorial is not an article but an introduction to the other articles.

But before I start I would like to draw your attention to an article by one of our members which is published elsewhere on the web (and thus it is not necessary to reprint it here). Karina Simpson wrote an article entitled "The 104 year old virgin" in the Edge magazine dated 17 November 2007.  You will find it on pages 8 and 9 of the magazine which can be viewed at http://www.edgeonweb.org/read/pdf/edge67.pdf.  (This is a PDF document containing the whole magazine, so it is a sizeable download - 2.23 MB)

The Pastor's Piece - Dr Barry Wright  (link to article)

This month our pastor has chosen to write on the blessings God gives us so bountifully, even if we do not always recognise them.

Counting the Cost - Mary Turbet  (link to article)

Mary started her article "Easter time and what are we thinking about - Holidays? the Royal Easter Show? or are we thinking about Jesus and his wonderful gift to us of eternal life."  This was originally a talk given about Easter 2007.

Now it is Christmas - but the message is still relevant.  Perhaps I should comment that while at Christmas we concentrate on the birth of Jesus, that birth would have been pointless without his death and resurrection.  Maybe this Christmas it would not hurt us to think of the whole picture.

Reflections...What or Who? - Erica Green  (link to article)

Another article by our member who can combine humour with deep thoughts.  This time Erica is speaking particularly to the young ladies in our reading audience, but what she has to say can be just as applicable to some of us men, so read and think about what she is saying.

Spotted at Speed on Tweed - John Morris  (link to article)

John Morris is not only property manager for our local congregation but he travels widely in the South Pacific checking on property needs for various schools and clinics operated by the church.  He writes from personal experience.

Love - Ian Harrison  (link to article)

This is the final piece in the series by Ian.  While not a member of our congregation Ian sent us this material, and we have appreciated his thoughts.  In this final article Ian concentrates on how amazing God's love is.
