What the Bible Says about the Second Advent
a bible study, compiled by John Morris
1. It Will Happen
How do we know - Jesus said so - I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN and receive you unto myself, that where I am there ye may be also. John 14.2-3
….and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matt 24:30
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my father's kingdom. Matt 26;29
For the son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels. Matt 16:27 Then all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great Glory.
2. The Apostles and the Disciples Said So
For the Lord himself shall descent from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall ne caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Paul writing to the church in Thessalonica Book 1 (1 Thessalonians) 4:16,17
Peter in Acts 3:19-21. And he shall send Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you
Behold He cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Revelation1:7
Paul had this time in mind. Titus 2:3 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the Great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Another thought from Peter. 2 Peter 1:16 We have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
The sin question is removed - Paul in Heb 9:28 Unto them that look for him he shall appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
3. Some Are Going to Miss Out
In whom the God of this world(Satan) hath blinded the minds of the which believe not, less the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine upon them. 2 Cor 14:4
You will not miss the event irrespective of what decision you might take about Jesus Christ. "For as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be" Matt 24:27
Paul again: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout and the voice of the arch angel: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.1 Thess 4:16
